FOUNDER

HISTORY

The Domestic Violence Resource Center, formerly known as the Committee to Aid Abused Women (CAAW), was founded by Joni Kaiser in 1977. At that time, CAAW was the first domestic violence program in the state of Nevada. Beginning in a one bedroom apartment, Joni and a coalition of community supporters grew CAAW to ultimately provide supportive services at five community locations. As a leader in the field of domestic violence advocacy, the Domestic Violence Resource Center is committed to offering state-of-the-art life saving services including: a 24-hour emergency hotline 775.329.4150 advocacy and individualized case management, emergency shelter, transitional housing and protection order assistance.
